Essie is amazing when it comes to signature and classic polishes. Ballet Slippers, a pale pink with a sheer finish, is just one of the very many polishes from Essie that I absolutely love because of how simple yet chic it is. While painting my nails with Ballet Slippers, I wanted to make my nails pop just a little bit and an accent nail is the perfect way to give your manicure a little extra oomph.
For my accent nail I reached for Ride ‘Em Cowgirl, a gold glitter, by Ruby Wing which I received in my Birchbox earlier this month and had yet to use. I absolutely love the way these polishes go together. The gold glitter did not overwhelm but complimented the sheerness of the pink very well. Ride ‘Em Cowgirl applied smoothly and it only took one coat to get such an amazing amount of glitter. Because of how sheer Ballet Slippers is, I used three coats to bring out the color but surprisingly didn’t experience any of the streakiness and goopiness I normally do when it comes to sheer polishes from Essie. What I really liked about Ride ‘Em Cowgirl was the twist the polish came with- it changes color when it comes into direct contact with the sun’s UV rays.
Not only did I enjoy the color changing twist with Ride ‘Em Cowgirl, I liked that it still complimented Ballet Slippers and didn’t look too busy, despite the accent nail having two qualities- different color and texture with the glitter. And of course there is another perk about Ride ‘Em Cowgirl- it’s vegan! Did I mention that there is also a light floral scent to the polish? I may be a little too excited about this manicure but it is so perfect for spring and these colors together made me feel like I was walking around with cherry blossoms on my fingers. Sadly the color changes back when indoors but spring has finally sprung and Ruby Wing’s color changing nail polish is helping me celebrate!
